The Grief and Praise of Autumn
The Great Mother as a wayshower of transformation
We often exist in the space in front of our bodies, pulled forward by all that is in the world and propelled from within by a set of conscious and unconscious subscriptions to rules that we have collected along the way in the game of life.
These subscriptions exist within us like a living rulebook, with new pages being added as we navigate the game so as to make our gameplay easier, better, and more successful.
Over time, this set of rules that once inhabited the space of a single sheet becomes a thick and heavy textbook. Our moral subscriptions, which in youth reflected our keen intellect sharpened for survival and gain, have grown into deep, animate hooks embedded within the flesh of our souls, imposing, policing, and draining our life force.
A natural reaction is to want to rip these hooks out - we want all that’s wrong and bad with us out, and out fast. But notice how this reaction is still subtly mired in the energy of policing, and how it imposes the rule of ‘there is always something to fix within me and thus I will never be perfect.’
Luckily, we can begin the relatively painless process of returning to our true essence by allowing ourselves to meld into the choreography that is the vaster forces of Mother Nature. She has never wavered or misstepped in leading this dance we call Life.
Autumn has begun its descent upon us. Witness how the Great Mother culls the diseased parts of herself and lets the death fall away. Know that she offers a mirror to what is possible within you. To surrender to her guidance is to enter a process of transformation that is still full of grief, pain, and heartbreak. But now, it is tenderly tempered with sweetness, grace, and praise.
In praise of your Life,
Eden
